Both the string and the 108 beads on this handcrafted mala are fiery red – the color of the sacred realm in Buddhism. In Tibetan Buddhism, there are six protector gods called Dharmapāla tasked with protecting people from internal and external threats that might hinder their spiritual progress. They are the keepers of Dharma, which is the Buddhist principle of humans’ duty to humanity. The mala generates a fire of divine protection around the wearer.
